Struggled to be able to by a single batch(30 +) of 6-9 month stores/steers locally to grow on through this winter Ended up this yr with a dribble of one or two at any given time to end up too and fro too many times at markets ,. Where should we looking new for a batch of 30+ all to come as one this September to move on following spring to a finisher. all recommendation welcome (relatively new too stores) we don’t make a fortune but they fit with our farm .

Yes, I’ve bought cattle from off it.
Fair bit of overpriced stuff on there but if you know what you want and what you want to pay, they do get larger groups than you could buy in one lot at market.

The above link will give the date of suckled calf sales, although the majority of calves at other than ''spring-born'' sales will be slightly older than 9 months. And some might even be older than their passports say they are.

Yes ..... buy a lot from there .
I dont think there is enough margin to be supplied , the supplier usually ends up having to send you some below par cattle or inflated price cattle to balance his books and you fall out. Putting a buyer on with strict orders on what you want to pay and you paying the market direct plus a p/head fee to the buyer is better, at least you can see your not being robbed. I wouldnt entertain being supplied or someone else buying for me though, always brought up to stand by my own mistakes/ decisions.

Your best bet is to keep going to the store markets, you usually fall onto to something that will do your job, at times it's hard and seems pointless , I was told when I was young "your best days at a store mart are when you come home empty because you know stuff is to dear" and I still think that rings true a bit, Maybe get a farmer friend who goes to different marts to buy you a few if they look right money for your job.

Went to a farm to see some cattle with a chap from Peter Jones Livestock. No pen to see the cattle in so difficult to price them. But I made an offer. Three days later I withdraw the offer as the owner still hadn't decided whether to accept or not.
Total waste of time.
