Situation Vacant Calf Unit Farm Manager - North Wales/Cheshire 🐮

The Opportunity: Are you a self-starter, ready to step into a leadership role where your eye for detail and expertise in livestock management will shape the future of a high-performing calf unit? The Calf Unit Farm Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a professional, large-scale calf unit in North Wales near the Cheshire border. You will lead a dedicated team to oversee the health, welfare and growth of calves from birth to weaning. Holding a strong work ethic and hands-on approach, you will drive best practices in the team ensuring the highest standards and protocols are maintained throughout the unit. Role Responsibilities:
● To manage the unit ensuring husbandry practices and feeding protocols are maintained to optimise calf performance
● To develop and implement calf health management programmes
● To develop and implement protocols and procedures that maintain effective biosecurity measures across the unit
● To supervise, train and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment
● To ensure accurate records are maintained, analysing data and responding quickly to variances or anomalies
● To manage financial reporting of the unit, ensuring a cost-effective operation

Skills you will need:
● Experience of livestock management
● A strong understanding and knowledge of animal husbandry and health management
● Highly organised with a strong attention to detail and an eye for livestock health concerns
● Ability to communicate well and work as part of the wider team
● Excellent leadership and people management skills, able to manage and motivate a small team
● Confident operating basic farm machinery including telehandlers
● Dedicated with a strong work ethic, happy to be hands-on working with the team
● Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems when they arise
● Good financial acumen, able to analyse data and make sound business decisions
● Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
● UK driving licence
