If all else fails tube it with some salt water solution, that’ll dry him out and make him really thirsty, only ever seen it done twice but worked perfectly both times

A few glasses of Prosecco normally works with the woman try a bottle of that in the milk

thats normally the way it goes once they work out what they have to do verry frustrating till they do

We had a pedigree bull calf born two weeks ago, very similar. He tried to suck - the brisket end and if he went to the milk bar, the cow nudged him off. We ended up putting cow in the crush 2x day, and trying to encourage him, but every time he was held or touched, he fought like fury.

After a week he absolutely refused to swallow his hand drawn milk. So we left him and sure enough, that penny had dropped and he was away! Suckling like a good 'un.
Now, he can get through the bars of his pen and tears up and down the feed passages, upsetting everyone else. We still can't catch him though.

Sorry - more than sorry in fact, for the circumstances of your struggle, but glad your calf got there in the end.
