Hi
Looking at installing a 360 degree camera in the calving shed . Would need to be 4g as don't have WiFi at one farm. Looking for recommendations. See some cheap ones on amazon etc but wandered if they are cheap for a reason? Thanks

Got a HikVision from David Flatman at https://www.stockcam.co.uk/. Fantatstic camera. Good zoom, great night vision and has been trouble free and reliable. Not the cheapest, but you probably get what you pay for. David is a farmer too, so will understand your requirements.

We got a Farmstream 360 camera last year. Ours is wifi but 4g is available too. Really pleased with it, to the point we've hardly used the Moocall since we installed the camera.

how much roughly is it per month? are the wifi ones free?

WiFi ones won't need any ongoing costs, but you obviously need a WiFi signal somehow. Installing a bridge is easy enough if you have a line of sight, but there's obviously a cost to the kit.

For 4G you just need a phone SIM card, so cost will vary depending on who you get it from and how much you use it I suppose.

If you don't mind me asking what sort of money did you pay out for it? Can you zoom in well enough to recognise the cow/read an ear tag?!

Just in the process of getting WiFi boosted out to the calving sheds and now looking at the camera options. I think I'll need 3 or 4 cameras to monitor all areas well enough.

My Agricamera packed up last year, after 9 years, so looking for a replacement. I tried a Farmstream one, connected via existing (Agricamera) WiFi bridge back to the farmhouse. As I've posted before, I sent it back within the trial period as it was pitifully slow scanning round the building. Returning it wasn't a problem though, and can't fault the service.
It's certainly a good value camera if it fits your setup. (y)

Just started looking for a replacement again now, so it's in place before lambing next March.

Phone Farmers Eye in Dundee. we installed 2 cameras off them last year. My son and i use them through each of our phones on wi fi in the house and 4g if out and about. We dont pay any charges for them. My son set them on the phones with Farmers eye. I think its on an app, I'm not too good with these sort of things but it works great.

https://micronic.co.uk/collections/4g-cctv <- These are basically the Livestock Eye cameras without the sticker and the price tag. We've got a static one (this one) that we bought from Livestock Eye (for more money which is annoying as it is the EXACT same camera) and we're really pleased with it - I've just got it set up for lambing 2022 with a £4.95 per month SIM from Lebara Mobile which I'll cancel once lambing's over, then buy a new SIM again next year.
