I’ve got Bo Steel and O’Donnell calving gates both very good. Imported from Ireland within a week (pre Brexit). Think a chap called Tim Gibson imports Bo Steel ones. May have them in stock. I set the two gates up to give 4 calving pens.

Bó Steel send be the most common one used in Ireland. They all make them, but from reading the forums theirs would be the most common and regarded.

If you contact him he will name you a contact to order them in as direct purchasing might be a problem since brexit.

Ritchie had a special offer on calving gates at the Doe Show last week. I had a good poke around it and didn't like to say to the girl on the stand that I was measuring it up to make my own.(I've bought a lot of Ritchie stuff over the years, so I'm not that worried about offending her!)
Edit: Blimey time flies, the show was three weeks ago not last week!

I hate to jump in here.!! But would it not be better to use easy calving cattle? Yes, you do get the odd one but that can be expected. A native breed like the Lincoln Red is noted for easy calving and our show and sale is at Melton Mowbray later this month. Angus are also relatively easy calving as well. Lincoln's cross well with most breeds and are a docile animal to handle.

Always handy to have one though. Easy calving is the ideal, but there will always be one that is problematic either at calving or calf trying to get sucked.

You wouldn't be a stabiliser breeder by any chance? Recognise Wolds name from a Cogent St bull.

I’ve made a couple of locking head yokes myself. Put one in a gate, and one free standing in young stock shed - in case I-need to treat any animal.
