Deduct 50% out of wages. But first you need to put it in writing on memo or letter format. Then add it to the employers handbook. Trouble is it doesn't cover the time going to collect the replacement part/labour. Depends you could ask them to collect in lunch time/afterwork in own vehicle. We've had alsorts here so called qualified mechanics who have put parts on backwards, crap welding, damage to other drivers cars etc. I think until you start putting onus on the employee nothing will change with the gun ho attitude.

Pretty sure you cant deduct anything out of an employees wages whether you write them a letter or not.
Some people wreck stuff some don't, some people are good at their job some aren't, its just part of owning a business. You have to move on from the bad ones.

Everyone, bosses or employees break things from time to time, if you never broke anything you never did anything. Careless stuff is annoying and if it continues you have to do something about it. Whenever I've done something stupid especially when I was younger, I found it was usually because a boss was hovering around watching you for mistakes.
I also worked for a bloke once that always wanted you to go faster, "go up a gear, you're not getting enough done" etc You'd end up pushing something too hard and tear it up, then you'd have to listen to how you'd done it all wrong:rolleyes::banghead:

Banned as in left at home, switched off or just cant use them?

Left in the staff room. They start at 5.30 break for breakfast at 9 for an hour and stop for lunch at 1 for an hour and a half. Plenty of time to catch up on all things TFF and the book of faces. We have it written into our farm Rules and they all sign a copy when they start.

Many employees who come to me speak of total disrespect from there previous employers of no time off and not being paid properly or at all in some cases. They usually arrive with no money and need some form of a sub. Treat them with respect and show them that if they behave correctly they will be treated with the upmost respect and 90% of the time you have there loyalty and respect back.

No being drunk from the night before at work either or smoking on site. The same goes for breakages. I tell everyone of them to come to me immediately if they have broken something so we can get it fixed between us there and then so the next time another member of staff jumps on the machine it’s ready to go to work. Usually going through how the accident happened and perhaps talk through how to avoid it happening next time is also useful.
