1000gns top, 700gns average, 100% clearance. Thank you for your interest and custom.

We have three hard commercial tups in Whitland on Friday evening (yes I know it’s the 13th) one is a two year old proven sire. He was the sire of the 1st prize crossbred pair of ewe lambs in Llandeilo show. The other two are lambs.

Then 7 strong lambs for the Builth NSA on the 23rd. And no @neilo they’re not over fed, they shouldn’t be jaffas and I can never find anybody to play along with the set up price ruse 😆

Neilo - Would it not be better spending more time trying to improve your breed of sheep instead of maliciously telling falsehoods about other, significantly more popular breeds!
Oh come off it. We all know that the tup lambs that get sold at £100k plus are not very genuine sales 😂
It’s also well known that the high protein diet those same tup lambs are on pretty much from birth buggers their fertility.

And I say that as a user of commercial texel tups who sick of buying those overfed show ponies

Of course they are well fed. Why wouldn’t they, people buy the well fed tips.

Every breed has big feeders. Including Charollais sheep.

I’ve yet to come across a texel ram sold at 6 figures that was dodgy.

Suffolk sheep has a questionable past, maybe not so much now with the two main culprits out of the question.

I’ve heard of rogue breeders, especially from different breeds. The two worst were a high profile Suffolk breeder from England who sold his flock a few years ago and a limousin breeder from the Sourg of England who sold a batch of heifers in Carlisle Limmy sale and supposedly every sale was a set up?

Maybe this is a problem with people from the South of England?

I heard an interesting story the other day about a whatsit between two thingies over a nabob. I can’t give details because I don’t know it’s true and don’t want to be sued, but if it is, it’s a classic of the genre. Added is the potential for it to have much broader range of repercussions than the immediate thingummy might otherwise suggest. Or it could be a damp squib.

Well there are plenty of 1st hand stories, like the lamb I bought, shared it with 2 other flocks, It managed to produce blue lambs in all 3 flocks, and it's figs disappeared into the floor, and what was it's name? Pretender, there are some jokers out there. Or of course it could seen as outright fraud, but you would need to ask a solicitor about that.

We’ve had one throw blue in 36 years of breeding. We threw a ewe out into the commercial flock because she threw an overshot tup. Wouldn’t sell him on so threw him into the commercials as well. OFC he served her. This was 1993. Didn’t know what a Blue Texel was so just sold it in a run of commercial gimmers.

As to figures disappearing we’ve abandoned even paying lip service to recording because I just can’t follow it after the latest changes.

Get him DNA’d verified for breeding with.

He has long gone, but I had another last year do the same, as it happens, contacted the breeder, never seen it before, and only the breeder can ask for dna verification, as it turns out, still that's another flock ticked of the ever lengthening list:cry:(n)

Baseless and unfounded allegations ( referring to a high profile Suffolk breeder as 'a rogue breeder') are neither true or helpful and are I am sure not consistent with the aims and objectives of the Forum. It is very obvious to whom you refer as there have been so few high profile Suffolk dispersals anywhere for the last 20 years The person to whom you refer had a hugely successful career in breeding and selling Suffolks for 40 years and before that success in Pedigree Cattle and other sheep breeds His Suffolk success was throughout the breeds high point in the 1980's and 1990's, when competition within the breed was at its most intense.During that period his genetics were right at the heart of the Suffolk breed. . He had very good prices when he dispersed ( but nothing like on the current scale of Texel prices). Since then offspring of ewes sold that day have dominated the Suffolk pedigree Sales and Shows. Oh yes and we bought many rams off him back in the day including one who sired a ram we sold for £28K back in 1997
