Carpet farming this Christmas - taking me back nearly 50 years

I like the idea of the board - my stock always keeled over due to carpet wobble!
Lovely buildings - you were a lucky lad! I had to make do with cardboard boxes!

I used to make my buildings with cardboard. If you carefully strip the layer off one side of corrugated cardboard it looks like corrugated tin.

Dry bran was great stuff in a muck spreader.

My brother and I used to pull the skinny wheels off the front of tractors and fit wide ones off trailers.

I was not from a farming family, and considered rather strange in making my own farm, buying plastic stock instead of "girly things". Every cardboard box was taken to make a new shed, but my sister took delight in stomping on them. I had one with lolly sticks as yorkshire boarding and one went through her foot - why did I get the blame? :(

@JP1 you must have been a careful driver, both your Corgi 5000's (although I used mine as a 3000, as it was smaller than my Britains 5000) still have their exhaust pipes!
Dad brought me a brand new 4 furrow trailed plough, not sure of 'make' as it was dark green, and probably old-fashioned for 1970-ish, I only got a few acres ploughed, then he came into the room, didn't see the plough where I had parked it on the headland under the shadow of the table, and stood on it...:cry:

I still have my green cushion (somewhere)that I used as a silage heap, having two brothers younger than me meant everything got trashed.

Beach farming is good too. My younger brother always had his birthday when we were in Abersoch on holiday, so we would take all our big Ertl stuff and he would always have something new.

One year, we both ploughed a massive piece of sand, no bull, it must have been 200 yds square. We planned to disc it next day but some bunch of tossers were playing cricket right on top if it!! Well, we weren't having that, so discing we went!! It was all going well until some bloke stepped back and stood on my JD discs. Happily, no damage to the discs, but the bloke didn't half hop and swear!!

Got through no end of talc in my carpet farming days Pete. I used to moan like hell though after I'd spent ages loading lorries and getting them tipped for some clumsy parent to then come and stand on my heaps before I'd spread it.

Me and my bro used to go from stubble to stubble in minutes, first the living room then dining room then the hall. Favorite tractor was the tw15 with ransomes sprayer with a front tank, then some some wheels to put duals on her! hours of it, until drunken father stumbles in late at night and stands on it all and crushes our home made sheds that were made from wood!

Would dearly love to re-create our entire farm fleet with Britains toys. Trouble is they only tend to make the largest models in a series.
What I would like to do is collect a model of all the tractors that have been my tractor at places I've worked since I left the school.

Models needed

Jd 2850
Case mx135
Case cs130
New holland tm140
