Might have sold an odd one to work a big diet feeder or maybe work a slurry pump
But I don't think it would have been many they were generally bought as all rounders which really need to be 4wd

Spotted 2 other blue roof 2wd's on t'internet. Sort of hoping it's rarity will add to it's value.
And it was the only 7840 I could find at the time with less than 4000 hrs

There was a 7810 2wd around a while a go,that seems to of vanished!!

Same idea
Although sometimes I think we forget how much a 2wd can do , especially if you're willing to fit dual wheels
That said for ploughing , pulling a heavy tanker etc you really need 4wd

My dipshit uncle bought one brand new on an E plate,he then fitted a Tb turbo,he didn't have it two years and bought a G plate 7610 4wd.

I liked my 7610.....but it was absolutely gutless compared with the 7810. Odd really, as everyone else claims 7610's are rockets..

No it was useless,great on the forager till it saw a hill,it also liked to get hot.

Allways found 7610 out pull a 7810 on the road,but 7810 would be streets ahead in the field..

I'd say the 7610 that replaced the 7810 was just as good power wise,till you put the pto in gear.....

If only they had put a shuttle box in them,last of the decent fords.

I drove a 7810 turbo on my year out from collage,put about 1K on the clock,did about everything from plough to pulling silage trailers,bloody loved it!!

I loved the 10 series we had 1 of the last 6810s opened up to 7610 power and then a bit
But I don't think they were the last decent Fords
The 40 series SLDP are pretty good
Better engine than the 10 series
Better gearbox with shuttle and generally more reliable than SLE
Oil immersed clutch . we had a 5640 with loader the clutch was untouched in 11000 hours
Better weight distribution
Need I go on

I've just remembered that the 5140 I used to drive used to drag a 4 furrow Rabe and press fairly deep in preparation for beet in the winter in the hands of another driver. Even with a full set of weights and the extension it used to rear terribly. used to scare me to death watching them
Never went over and seemed to have surprising traction like that, perhaps a 2wd would have been just as good?
Wish I had a picture. Anyone else have this problem.

Yep we used to have a ransomes drill on a bridge link on a dm maschio with hopper extension. When it was full of seed i had to have the loader in the air plus a full rack of weights on and even then it was fairly flighty. Pulled it well tho

Not sure if he down to just two on hedge cutters now..hell,at one tine I think there was 9/10 there..
