Looking at another cattle crush. The old one is rusted through needing a refurb. 100 Sucklers through 5 times plus calves 3 times annually plus monthly weighing of finishers. Is a hydraulic squeeze worth it? What brands, looking at Arrow and Raging Bull plus Bateman. Don't like IAE Saracen. Our old Portequip with Unistock headstock is pretty good but needing refurbished and will go to other unit.
We have an IAE Saracen squeeze crush which you don't like for 3 years now. Got a good deal on a clearance one which had been sitting in a yard over the winter. Looking at prices now we probably paid around the 50% grant price now.
Just in from a very wet first TB test this morning where we put 130 cows through in 3 and 1/2 hours. All caught by the neck.

Whatever you buy make sure you can lift an animal's foot easily and it has a belly strap.
I see no point in having a crush without it.

Don’t think foot trimming and belly strap were available on squeeze crushes. 100% agree hydraulic squeeze crushes are worth it, try waiting till the end of the year when grants maybe available again as it the last of the rounds.

Bought a Bateman manual squeeze 4 years ago after looking at all the competition, I did,t want to spend a fortune on one but found the bateman good value for money,it can be a little noisy when there,s a young steer wanting to express his annoyance by thrashing about. We tb tested the other day and the vet commented how well it worked, and they would see a lot in action. I would also have a look at Ritchie, they are well made.
