They have been coming through most weeks in the run up. Did you put down a dodgy email so you don’t get all the crap [emoji90] through the year. Lol [emoji38]
The secretary sorted them last year so will have used the company email but we got them free through the fw last minute so not sure if that’s why I’ve not heard anything from cereals directly. FW only doing buy one got one free at the moment:rolleyes:
If anyone wants to send me a spare ticket though feel free:ROFLMAO:

Hi - sorry for a blatant hijack of a thread where the majority seem they aren't coming to Cereals this year, but for those that are I wanted to make a small plug for our new Speakers Corner.

We've lined up four independent speakers to do short informal talks about four issues that a lot of farmers will be thinking about at the moment, so hopefully will be of interest to any of you coming along!

Here's the line up...

Wednesday June 13
10:00am - 3 ways to improve soil health in practice - Dr Jackie Stroud (Soil Scientist, Rothamsted Research)

11:15am - A 3 step guide to calculating your unit cost of production accurately - Andrew Ward MBE (Grower, Roy Ward Farms)

14:15pm - BYDV control in a post-neonic seed treatment world - Dr Steve Foster (Research Entomologist, Rothamsted Research)

Thursday June 14
11:15am - Battle against Black-grass: 3 ways I'm tackling black-grass on my farm - Tom Jewers (Grower, GD Jewers & Son)

Come and grab a coffee or a tea on Stand 557, stay for lunch, and perhaps hear something that will help you on your farm in the future. Just one little nugget could be easily worth the cost of a ticket!

And with the blatant plug done (forgive me please!)...you can get back to discussing why you're not going to Cereals this year...or who knows - might even see you there!

Well I have changed my mind and am not going.

Reason?

Well, my flier turned up in the post today. Offer of free ticket? Nope. I am so lucky that they are going to hold the prices at last years levels. Clearly no-one realises that we all talk to each other on here. Knowing folk are getting offered them for nothing its a bit silly to offer other farmers a great deal for a ticket at twenty something quid. Obviously I am not worthy of a freebie. sigh. Will go roguing instead.

If you are an NFU member get a free one from their web site.

I’ve had two free tickets from the NFU now, and the kind offer of another one from a forum member as well. Perhaps your looking in the wrong places:whistle::ROFLMAO:

I agree. I've had numerous emails about all the exciting things to see at cereals and the reduced rate advanced ticket. I even had an email at 10 last night telling me there was only 2 hours left to get discounted tickets and yet others have had free tickets! I'm obviously not important enough for them to worry about.

I would like to know why it isnt free for anyone, we are the buyers/customers of this row of "shops"

Because us farmers are generally stupid and gullible. We get sold to and then get told what we can sell our goods at! It’s all a big con.

The supermarkets will be charging entry next just so you can then buy stuff from them!

Cereals is pointless. All the info that can be obtained from there is on the net for your monthly broadband subscription. If there’s something new released at the show you can guarantee by the end of the show it’s been put online because at the end of the day it’s another thing to sell so needs to get online as fast as possible.

Would have to agree with you but its a day out to meet others and have a chat and look at lots of things.
Nick...

Went to a local country show yesterday. All the main local dealers were there with lots of machinery. Loads of farm animals, loads of horses, loads of food, a handful of clothing stalls but thankfully this one is still rural and not commercialised like some. Under 16’s free entry. Adults £10. Far better day out than being sold to at cereals.

Why do so many people feel they need to justify why they’re not going Cereals :scratchhead:. There’s plenty of big shows and local ones but people don’t seem feel the need to justify why they’re not going to them!

Not having a go just wondering, plenty of other shows charge to get in as well you either want a day out or you don’t:whistle:

Personally I’m looking forward to a day out to do a bit of socialising and maybe pickup some ideas before harvest when I don’t get chance to speak to my own family let alone anyone else!

I'm simply not buying a ticket knowing others are getting offered them for free by the organiser. Good luck with a differential pricing system in the internet age.

It’s only a ticket and it’s not a Kings Ransom. You’ll be a long time dead. Cereals is quite a sociable occasion I reckon you’d meet a few you know and probably have a good time.
Still each to their own (y)

I'm taking the chaps for their summer day out on me. Luckily found a few free tickets. Not far from us so not a trial to get there. Chequebook firmly shut though, unless they sell second hand machinery.

We aren't exhibiting but definitely going there in person.

Its a tough call - I want to support the show but also know that its not particularly relevant for us as a business anymore, its not cheap either.

I have no idea why they don't do an evening do? They've got the tents.

They'll blame health and safety or insurance but it doesn't seem to have been a problem for the 1000's of small festivals popping up all over.

I think long term we are going to see some big structural changes in UK ag and I don't see the space for 'pay to enter' shows like this.

I like cereals, and they have sent me two free tickets.
Despite this I am still undecided as, if I wanted to drive all the way to stansted, I would really want to be boarding a plane.
