Cidr Programme - Cow Synchronization

I am going to put in 6 cidrs tonight - going to try a new programme:

Day 0 – Cidr in & 2.5cc Receptal

Day 7 – 2cc Estrumate – PM

Day 8 – Cidr out – PM

Day 10 – 2.5cc Receptal – 4pm

Day 11 – 10am AI

Day 15 – Cidr back in for 2 weeks

Has anyone used a similar programme where by the cidr goes back in for 2 weeks post ai?

So this was in August last year

9th - Prids in and 2ml Receptal - 9am

14th - 2ml Estrumate - 9am

15th - Pull Prids out - 9am

17th - AI 9am, 2ml Receptal

18th - AI 9am

Some people give them more Receptal about a week later or so, I can't remember that part. We didn't put the Prids/Cidrs back in and I've never heard of that technique before . But, AI is very new to me so...

There seems to be that many different ways of doingt it. I had a bull for a few years and cant remember the schedule i had before - but a friend who seems to know his stuff reccomended this.

Ill try it and if it works il stick to it i guess

4 to Ampertaine Magnum and unfortunately only the one held

It's not put me off though as it was my first time syncing them and my friend came and AI'd them for me. He said all were in good season but one, the other one wouldn't be far away so he chanced it. No choice has he had a ferry to catch. Luck of the draw I guess

Pointless putting CIDRs back in. It used to be all the rage but they reduced the amount of progesterone on them. Apart from that your protocol looks fine. You do realise you will be AI on Saturday?

a vet told us, pull cidrs, wash them in washing machine, and reuse. haven't done it, I suspect the wife might have something to say ! We now use a jab of oestrogen, and a scratchy, and serve when bulling well, works exceedingly well, usually 60% hold, that is in dairy cows and heifers. It also has the advantage of 'splitting' the calving up a little bit. In block calving herds, usually only breed replacements from 1st service, and every year, the cattle get more fertile.

Your vet is either pulling your leg or an idiot. CIDRs are coated in progesterone, it dissolves into the vaginal mucus. Putting them in the washing machine will certainly clean them - of any remaining progesterone!

agree with you, but apparently not, there is so much hormone, also said we could put back in, as some suggest, but, not for us.

As said above. There used to be, but they were reformulated about 10 years ago. Even then it was a case of a rinse in a bucket of hibiscrub rather than a washing machine.

My man tells me you can use them twice - guess if i put them back in that is using them twice.

I just steep them in hot water for 30 mins.

I will know more, when i know more :D

I've never heard of inserting CIDRs after service - let alone the same ones!

Apart from that it looks spot on.
The SAC did some beef work 15 years ago effectively re synching 3 times for 3 bouts of AI with reusing CIDRs. It worked for them. Pfizer got wise and reduced the progesterone on them.
