Claas Axos PTO not working.

Anyone have any experience with the PTO on a Claas Axos.
If I put the PTO in to 540 it slots in with out any grinding or crunching at all. Then move the other PTO lever to release the clutch and nothing happens.

Do the same thing in 1000 grinds to go in to 1000 but the release the clutch and it works fine.

Thanks

Underneath the cab where the PTO speed selector comes out the cable is adjustable, the nut which locks the cable onto the selector can come loose, so selector moves in the cab but in fact is not pulling the cable so won't engage PTO. It has happened to ours in the past.

I’ll check this out. The tractor was owned by the MOD before me and to my knowledge the PTO wasn’t used. The tractor has 500 hours on it.

Cable possibly we’ve replaced a few on ours over the years. As suggested check where the cable and selector are attached and see if it’s actually pulling the selector.
I’ll be checking this next time I’m out. The other thing i was thinking was the clutch plate stuck. Although it make no noise at all in 540 ( possibly because it’s not moving to select) . The grinding and crunching to move to 1000 sounds like the clutch isn’t releasing

Slightly  more serious issue now at 1160hrs...

Occurred while ploughing (in 6th gear-1st high range so to speak). Mechanical banging noise. Stop immediately, unhitch plough. Take to mechanics...

2 cogs with teeth off.

2 new (genuine) cogs and new (genuine) top shaft purchased and currently being refitted.

Tractor (or what's left of, it looks like this)

Just an update on this if anyone else is having a similar issue. The problem was fixed by adjusting the cable and lock nut underneath the cab where the PTO selector goes through the cab.
Thanks for the help
