Claas liner 4000 problems

As title any one running one had an issue with it stripping the main rotor gears, and it’s not down to operators as our other rakes are fine

I have heard of that problem before on the liner 4000 & was told it down to running to much pressure on the raking arms .

I’d agree but it runs less hard that the other rake being as it’s all adjustable from the cab

From what I was told that is the problem the driver sits and plays with it all day up and down ,

No expert but I know a lot of people that had them when they first came out and they all said they had major problems, 3000/3500/3600 faultless but the 4000’s were just under to much strain from each rotor trying to pull the grass around from so far away Is it one of the first ones or a new one?

It was bought second hand I’ll have to look at the plate to see the year

Liner 4000 runs the same rotor diameter as a 2900. If it’s the front rotors then it’s less likely to be a machine fault. If it’s the rear ones then it’s more likely to be crop throughput etc.
Worth a look anyway.

it often seems to be the front rotor they does the outside of the paddock that craps out first.

Yes I’d agree if it was just the right as you sit in the tractor front but they’ve both gone twice, we don’t use it in real heavy crops we use the other smaller rakes, As @Speedstar says he heard it’s from running too much pressure on them which would make sense but you have to run them so they collect all the grass obv so if that’s what is causing it then it’s clearly a major weakness in the machine as the others don’t do it and it’s not like your trying to rotorvate with it, we are thinking it’s a bloody Friday afternoon machine

To be honest I’ve no idea, contractor I use has Kuhn which is pretty old now believe it’s been trouble free

Our liner 3500 is on its 7th season and has been fairly reliable other than wear and tare

sounds like it was built up wrong , or the man in the seat is to hard on it , i know of some problems with these rakes but i all so know of some that have done years of work with no problems

100% not built up wrong and the lad on it isn’t hard on any kit it’s not been in heavy grass either think it’s just a lemon of a machine tbh

Neighbour here bought a 2900 second hand fair few years back, ended up getting rid of it as crown wheel and pinion went on it twice.

Still sounds like something isn’t set right. Be it a slip clutch or something else being too loose
