Collaborative and sustainable rearing of dairy bred beef calves

Hi, I am a student in the UK looking for some opinions and views on my dissertation.
My dissertation will explore how collaboration between farmers fits into the rearing of a dairy bred beef calves in England and the existing collaboration in the beef industry. I will explore collaboration starting from the dairy farms through to weaning and then to the finishing unit. I believe that collaboration addresses issues such as dairy calf welfare; societal views on culling or exporting young dairy bulls, but also has the potential to improve consistency of product in the supply chain. This should address aspects of waste and inefficiency and contribute to Greenhouse Gas emission mitigation. The supply of dairy calves is also an important issue and I will touch on the dairy breeds, herd health, future of supply and bio-security.
My questions to you are: How does a collaborative system fit into the beef industry? Are the current systems good enough? Can a collaborative system be sustainable? What other systems are currently being adopted and are they successful?
My dissertation is in its early stages and is still evolving.
It would be great if you could share your views and opinions on the matter especially if you are directly involved, and potentially help with any interviews or questionnaires down the line if you wish.
Thank you in advance! :)

There will be plenty of calf rearers buying direct from one farm or a handful of farms and taking all their beef calves.
So long as the dairy feeds the beef calves well before they move and the price works for both parties then it's fine.
We used to, now buy from market for various reasons and seems to work better on the whole.
