So its conceivable newcrop wheat could hit £280 at some point, due to a poor world crop.If you take that view, surely you must also accept that another poor world crop is a certainty in the not too distant future. So why not just keep hoarding harvests until you can sell for £280 ?

Cashflow ! And storage space

Lets not get carried away. A lot can happen between now and harvest. Did someone not say on a forum a few months ago that OSR would hit £500 per tonne for 2012 harvest. A lot can happen between now and harvest both here and elsewhere around the world. I still feel wheat won't get above £220-£230 at any time in the next few years. Price will just stem demand. That said - I still have a sizeable amount of 2012 wheat to sell. Should I sell or hold, what are your thoughts.

Sit on it if Cashflow allows. Cripes northern Hemisphere where wheat grows, is not going to be record year. Extreme south where wheat grows is flooded or droughted. And BRICS economies are buying plus Arab world for the middle bit of planet.

usda thinks every thing is ok and there is plenty of grain to go round

stocks up higher than expected in todays report so all grains down the limit
the basis in the usa is cash prices for grain are higher than futures the usda believes there is plenty of grain to get tot he next harvest

if end users get the grain cheaper they will use it up faster the margin on ethanol production has increased so they will keep using it

form what I read the usa will not have an early maize harvest as the early planted crop has been frosted off and it is now also a cold late spring over there

weather will trump the pundits and volatility is the only certainty

the uk will get its imported grain from the lowest cost supplier who can meet epec as always

Wheat took a hammering today boys. USDA out with a very bearish global outlook.
Actually, wheat futures took a hammering today.Who cares? Everyone surely knows the futures is nothing to do with farming.Wheat futures are always less for next year than for this year.Thats stupid. What kind of idiot hasnt heard of inflation?

Sold the last of mine yesterday before USDA figures came out. Need to clear shed by end of April for a building project so no point hanging on. Sold at £198 ex, glad now I did it and didn't hang out for £200. Should have sold it all when I did the last contract at £210 ex, but that's life!

What has happened to wheat. Is it the bearish usda or the rumour mill for our biofuel industry shutting shop again?

Ask Hindmaist. Clearly, he looks like a guy that knows what he is talking about...
