Finished today, 4 weeks earlier than last year.

Got 100ac of beans cut. 130ac beans and 10ac lisneed left. Will try and get another 100ac of beans done tomorrow. Yields nothing special. But pretty close to being dry.

B Beetle do not seem to be a problem this year, or is it we are so good at controlling them?

@woldgrain tweeted a couple of days ago that they were finding plenty of holes. Only one insecticide used this year. Crop drilled last days of April.

Chap from Openfield I think on Radio Lincs FM Farming was saying a few cases of Bruchid not actually exiting bean until in store..

Well, think these need a few weeks air through them before being fit for sale anyway. Cant get excited about beans in general.

17% but weren't going to get drier than that. Now 8ft deep and fans on so should sort them.

Look like a good crop. Problem is not much time to get a stale seedbed before a first wheat now....

Would you attempt a stale seedbed at this time of year? How long would you leave it for to be effective?

That's what I meant really, you can't. So no I wouldn't. From that photo I would get on and drill it, if there was much BG in the beans I would leave for a spring crop or plough.

Beans were only drilled in late April, and there is a lot of crumbly soil. Pre-em worked well, and beans were dessicated about 3 weeks ago so all the greenery is dead. Dad will run the terrano over the stubbles over the next 3 days, and will disc and press behind if needed. To get a stale seedbed, it needs rolling and I doubt that would be wise this late.
