Apart from today which has been nice all day, every day has started with light rain here this week.

Thats one of the things with spring beans though, could always be first week of Oct to combine

In Lincs there are a lot of beans to harvest, but they still look good ! , they will be got by end of next week.

Yup. Neighbour had a go today but was too wet. Nice week next week would see them all done. Best thing about beans is you can sail through them at high speed and get the acres worked through.

Think we might have a go tomorrow in the spring beans. just over 40 acres in five fields about five miles away from home...... oh and the combine driver's busy else where so I might get chance to have a go.

is the forcast good next week?

Good is a relative term. Beans have been sprayed off just over 2 weeks now, so should be nice and dead. Dont want the combine, so well oiled after the linseed, to end the season all gummy and nasty. We have 225ac of beans to get, so a long 2 days. All going on wooden floor to dry. They are stood and now the stems are dead the canopy has opened up to dry the soil a bit. I'll take them at 19% and under, but want the linseed done first. A fair few arent really fit, and plenty of folk have more than 2 days cutting them ahead.

finished on the 20 Sept all done, now down to drying the stuff average yields on the wheat spring barley and beans, winter barley what was left of it (lost a lot to salt blow in the winter storms)was mediocre to say the least the combine wasnt well behaved either we had a minor fire so we were on stop for a week
we were fortunate to have a spare alternator drive belt as apparently New Holland didn't have one in the whole of europe :scratchhead:

I was after a main drive belt for my nh this year. Likewise there were 'none' in Europe and 9 on backorder. Did find one thanks to some very helpful people but I bet some people were upset

He would expect a swift punch on the nose if he would have said that to me

Well while we are having a moan.
I ordered a rad for our JD when we started harvest.
It arrived after we had the job all rapped up apart from Beans.

Luckily it was only a small leak.

I have used them before and they have usually been able to help. They have several vans which they have teams working from, so can also come out to help with breakdowns etc.... They also hire out combines and have a couple of low loaders for transport. They export quite a lot of old stuff as well, hence why their yard sometimes looks like a junk yard
Dealing with the boss is a 'bit of an acquired taste';), but his son is OK. At the end of the day they are usually very helpful

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
