It has been interesting to grow. I think my brother is growing more. Will do better next time. Was hoping for a ton per acre but think it will be more like 0.8, which is disappointing. Next time will get a) more PGR, b) split dose nitrogen more like with linseed as the seeds didnt seem to be that fat.

But very easy, and good weed control. Almost no cost after the seed. With linseed, the sun can get to the ground and dry it out, but the canary canaopy is quite thick so the ground is noticably less dry. But an interesting experiment.

whats the difference between canary seed and Millet (also sold to feed canaries ?) they sound similar ?

Probably very little. Crop had:

Seed,
90kg N as urea in seedbed,
Avadex pre-em.
Some kind of mircam (hormone BLW spray)
Roundup to dessicate.

Next time it really wants moddus, and the N splitting. It was very simple to grow, after the fear we had drilled it too deep. Looked really thin until stem extension.

C4 grass ?

Sounds like millet to me in a fancy frock !

We split Millet N 50/50 seedbed and top dress, needs heat and maize takes a agrs to get moving but when it does is very rapid

Finished for another year.
Also finished putting OSR in.... although not where we originally planned it to go, due to wheat straw on the ground a month?

Unexpectedly back on the go the last couple of days after a phone call from the contractor who does our bales. They had 95 acres of fairly tall linseed that wouldn't go through their lexions and wanted a Walker machine. Two part days later and I've done 30 acres of it. It's flat with fat hen in places and patches of wild oats, starting to regret my helpful nature!

After a great run this harvest the last 80ha of beans have taken 2 weeks to cut.

A dramatic end to harvest in the end, the combine has run so well all year and saved all of its hiccups for the last day, we were repairing it under the most spectacular thunderstorms with only 3ha left to go, even the header trailer had its one puncture of the year as we were taking the header back to the field, the torrential rain missed us and we finished at 10, phew....

The Spring Beans did 5.2 t/ha despite a carpet of BG under them.
The stubble was noticeably cleaner under the part of the field dd'd into a cover, maybe there's something in this after all !!

Beans now sprayed are dying back nicely. Dont think this week is going to be nice enough for linseed. Will hope to get all done by the end of next week.
