Club root to start with with the turnips.

I did continuous Spring barley with stubbles left over winter fur birds.

Fine for a few years but yields drop off and I stopped.

Does anyone grow stubble turnips followed by spring barley on the same land every year ? Is there any disease risks ? Thanks in advance.

We did it at home for many years and never saw any disease problems. The only problem is the stubble turnips going in later than ideal. In later years we wholcropped the Spring Barley instead of taking it to combining, which works very well.

yes seems to be ok but timeliness with both crops is the issue , put the N+S before or at drilling for both , I think ally affects the turnips a bit so combi drill straight into the mucked stubble and roll if dry . Annual meadow grass seems to build up (the other grass weeds seem to have disappeared) so like to plough for the barley and fusilade or similar at cotyledon stage as the spring barley volounteers will take over especially with a big wide combine with chaff spreaders on it ,a growth regulator on the barley probably a good idea after a few years of this ,
