Cordless battery shearing machine

I bought a Shearcordless a few years ago, and they have been absolute cr*p. They have hardly been used as they are such a pita. They are underpowered , unreliable and hard work in anything other than open, clean wool (so not dags!) IME.

They were abandoned 12 months ago, having narrowly escaped being thrown against the nearest wall. I would have been better off spending the same money on a small generator to power the mains shearing machine so that I'd could use it down the field (as well as being useful for other jobs).

For carrying in the quad to do odd ones, I bought a set of Jakoti shears for a fraction of the money.

They seem a mixed bag... typical Chinese quality control - some are great, some are not so. But most sellers warranty seems good to put things right

There's a set on eBay, straight from China for £147 with 2 batteries - very tempted at that price (but could be a bigger gamble and no real warranty), but considering I've got Jakotis and 12v hang up Horner and mains machines - do I really need them?!

We have the Razor, handy this time of year to carry about for dagging the odd one. They can do a full shear but overheat if you do 2 or 3 in quick succession. I'd say they're all much of a muchness, if you want to clip sheep as well then go for a 12v hangup machine and get a pair of jakotis for emergency dagging.

Horner Razor. £225 and excellent back up from Horners. As said above, worth its weight in gold at this time of year. Take it everywhere in case we find a blown sheep. I’ve sheared 14 one after another with it no probs on 1 battery, never had too do more with it so don’t know how much longer it lasts. It was starting too get hot though. But it dags sheep and clips cattle like a champion. I’ve had 2 batteries stop working on it, took too horners and they just swapped them for new straight away no messing.
