I encourage a little herd but could do with a couple a year ending up in the freezer.
Despite many failings I’m still happy to pay my fee for Radio 4 and anything by AtttenboroughCountryfile - what a load of old rubbish. Is this the best the BBC can do for primetime Sunday night ?
If (when) BBC changes to subscription service, who will pay for their service ?
I lost my respect for Attenborough a few years ago when he said he no longer had an appetite for meat.Despite many failings I’m still happy to pay my fee for Radio 4 and anything by Atttenborough
Couldn't have put it better my selfThey’re all at it now.
“ Hey kids, I’ve been flying around the world all my life having a bloody great time, but you can’t do that now. Oh no, you’ve got to pay for me pi$$ing the planets future up the wall…….plus, I’ve had a plane load of kids along the way too! Happy future!!!”
Sorry, lads, but I think it is an old age thing. In my pre-teens I was a nasty little murderer with an air rifle. Now I am the complete opposite, putting up nest boxes left right and centre. An old mate of mine, a former stalker, said to me he must have shot thousands of red deer in his time but would not bother now. I still like meat but I understand Attenborough. No doubt you will go the same way in time. Give the guy a break. He has done more good than harm.I lost my respect for Attenborough a few years ago when he said he no longer had an appetite for meat.
I understand your point, but David Attenborough is more than just another pensioner- he’s a ‘national treasure’ and a spokesman for the country. He would realise that, a statement like that would be used as a rallying cry for all the veganistas and packhamites (and worse) out there, which is all feeding in to the difficulties now faced by anyone involved in the livestock industry in the UK. Just look at the slant on ELMS/SFI just now- food production is OUT, providing other/wildlife benefits is IN (just don’t expect to make much of a living from it).Sorry, lads, but I think it is an old age thing. Can't help but notice that all his programmes on endangered species are from countries that the UK import goods from, maybe he should make a programme on the species in this country that are in danger of extinction starting with us farmers!I understand your point, but David Attenborough is more than just another pensioner- he’s a ‘national treasure’ and a spokesman for the country. In my opinion DA made a mistake in linking animal agriculture with loss of species/climate change etc. He might have well said “Fast fashion is killing the planet so I’ve got no appetite for wearing clothes anymore”.
That boy had nothing to complain about, we have herds of 20 to 30 in 20 acre fields. We "harvest" them and they go through the pub! What’s not to understand??
One of the better pieces on there lately I thought, raising awareness of the huge increase in the Fallow herds that are so damaging ( featured farmer a near neighbour and TFF member )
The point, was to raise awareness of the environmental damage Deer do when left unmanaged and to encourage consumers to eat it at hone rather than just a luxury treat on a trip to a restaurant??
The Deer are a huge problem around here…
Attenborough tells us to travel less, yet there's not a corner of the globe that the old ba@$+@rd hasn't travelled to.Despite many failings I’m still happy to pay my fee for Radio 4 and anything by Atttenborough
Travel less ' after I've filled my boots thanks it was good while it lasted but now you lot can't do what I done cos its BAD' !!Attenborough tells us to travel less
Simon Reeve said the same thing about his own carbon footprint generated by his travels.I can’t bring myself to heap abuse on Attenborough, he is basically a decent bloke who has been with us for longer than I care to remember; I don’t dislike him and did respect him.
But as has been said he is the arch hypocrite as regards climate change and killing the planet da di da di da......with his selective memory conveniently forgetting the millions of miles he has travelled around the world making a fabulous living from something that he loves doing.
Just as so many ‘celebrities‘ speak to us as though we are the guilty party in destroying our planet while it is they who jet around the world to perform at concerts or to attend climate countless change summits.........
‘Hypocrites’ isn’t really a strong enough term to describe these people.
Don't worry it will be 'balanced up' 10 trillion % in the opposite direction for the rest of our lives cause they won't be able to live with them selves after putting that much into one probI take last night as a complete win. The BBC promoting 1) shooting and 2) Red meat AT THE SAME TIME
or is it a case of 'get it over and done with' for the year ???
Exactly my thoughts! I’ve always enjoyed his programs read his autobiography, but the awd b**ger has lost a bit of respect for being a hypocrite regarding meat and travelAnd when he jumps on the global warmers bandwagon after he had his fill of travelling around the world all his life and pulling the ladder up on his way out !
