what a completely pointless thread .
any body else but Clive starting such a stupid thread would have been laughed off. 130+ replies . there are a lot of sycophants on here .
I think the forum madness is driving Clive to drink
He now wants to meet up with all his old chums but cant remember their names
His post if you dont like it bog off was hilarious
Hes certainly livened the place up

Around us in Bucks then , we had no proper rain since June 75 till Aug 28th. 1976.
having a large dairy herd at the time, we were desperate for anything a cow would eat, including pea straw, we pulled in from Lincolnshire. We were baling on farms several miles away, and some times alongside Welsh farmers, who must have driven 200 miles or more to get some straw. Thankfully the place was so dry , nobody dared burn anyway, so were pleased to shift it.
The days before the dreaded chopper

So wiil all this dry weather alter your farm practice to use contour farming.

No but it will make me shell out on a sh!tload more drainage so we can try and get stuff planted in a wet autumn rather than have spring crops and dd what I can in the spring

Also if we got a wet year contours would turn into lakes so I will passing those

Just for those who aren’t aware / haven’t thought about it much

1 mm of rain equals 10,000 litres per ha

So 25mm of rain ( 1 inch ) equals 250,000 litres per ha, or about 56,000 gallons per acre

VERY silly idea (but that’s what forums are for) ..........

could you use a sprayer fed water by an umbilical system to irrigate crops ?

36m going as slow as possible (so extremely slow on cvt ) on auto steer so you could take the man out the cab with runs taking hours to complete just supervise (maybe not legal even ! ? )

umbilical system pumping water to the sprayer filling it as fast as it empties ?

utterly crazy idea and cost also probably crazy and unviable but could it work ?
Clive what about a potato irragtion system on your crops ?
