Ballycairn Farms getting the winter wheat crushed for feeding the cattle during the winter. Working with Drumcroon Farm they grow winter wheat for the sole purpose of feeding it back into the cattle, and the slurry is used for growing the winter wheat. The winter wheat is cut at a higher moisture which allows for easier crushing. 221.17 tonnes of wheat @ 25% moisture was harvested and here is last years harvest video

When the wheat is all cut it then turns to Lyons Contracts for crimping the winter wheat. Using the Wakely 1240 mill the top hopper is filled up with the winter wheat being fed down into the mill and then augered over the wall into the silo.Clamping the winter wheat into the silo is the Volvo L90, once all is crushed it will be covered over with sheets and allowed to ferment.
