To hell with steel at £4k/t, or glulam.....go green oak at £1300/tonne
Counts positive for your carbon footprint, lasts for centuries, will have high salvage value come the end!

Good shout! I guess it depends on what structure is being built?

Ha, it’s for commercial, 40 x 12. Not sure glulam would tick that box!

I’ll get the price back formally then review. It’s all a bit rubbish
The only reason I mentioned Glulam is we are pricing up a job for a milk processing plant to create a structure with bifacial solar panels over the loading bay to generate the power for the chargers for the reefer units on the trailers, when they are the bay. And the client has strong 'sustainability' ethics. I like to idea of glulam for structural support for projects like this, and for installing solar pv over car parks too!
