Just flicking through the farmer's weekly and noticed a cracking dairy farm for sale in Cumbria, which seems to have been for sale for a few mnths and has been advertised a few years back. Is this a sign that people are reluctant to invest in a volatile industry or are there other issues surrounding the sale ?
If it were for sale round here im sure it would have been snapped up.
You need to come up here to parts of Cumbria and Northumberland to see the type of land for yourself. It aint like Cheshire! Its a dairy farm built on LFA type ground. If not registered as such,it will be similar.

North Farm, Over Silton, Thirsk, YO7 2LJ
Guide Price - £1,920,000
For many years North Farm has been an active Diary Farm, producing high quality milk in a very traditional way. As a working farm, it is exceptionally clean and tidy – a credit to the vendors.
The farmhouse is a traditional ‘long house’ with extensive accommodation extending to 3 Reception rooms, kitchen, pantry and utility, 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms. It could easily be split to accommodate dependent relatives.
The home is well set back from the road with well-maintained gardens.
The yard and farm buildings are situated to the rear of the farmhouse and benefit from a separate access to the southern edge of the village.
The buildings are a mixture of modern and traditional buildings, currently used for dairy production.
The farmland is situated behind the steading and to the south it is largely grassland, well fenced and watered, with one arable field extending to 16.72a (6.77Ha) which is part of Lot 2.

Lots 2 and 3 are separated by a minor, single track road, to Nether Silton.

Location
North Farm enjoys an almost perfect location, situate at the northern edge of the village, with no through road traffic, yet only 11/2 miles from the A19 Dual Carriageway.
The Market towns of Thirsk, Northallerton and Stokesley are all within 15 minutes, with the major destinations of York, Harrogate and Teesside just over 30 minutes away.
The farm lies in a hung valley and is largely south facing.

Top and bottom of it the particulars look great but it’s a s####hole and is a wet farm.
While every one is entitled to there opinion , most people would say the farm is ok and it's not very helpful to the seller making comments like yours . We don't know , but he may have a purchaser lined up and some one puts a comment like that on here and scuppers the deal .

I will clarify that a bit more.It looks a perfectly decent farm and farm steading to me,probably well above average with some decent looking buildings.I cannot understand why anyone would call it a shithole, which it most certainly is not.The west of the farm seems a bit wet,but still travelable on.The east Brampton side seems to be quite good, maybe red sandstone type.Although the A69 goes through it,there is an underpass.Much better than a farm like Temon further East, where the guy often reverses across the A69 with his loader tractor for safety.

Not the ideal setup for to continuing to milk.
Neighbours would be glad to see the back of the moos.
Lots of local interest...in the house and yard...for horses.
