maybe a bottle of synulox for the metritis, a bottle of Norodine to keep them going, multivits (just because), .

And you seem surprised that people want to restrict farmer's use of antibiotics....

Are the dry cows on a TMR? How much straw are they getting, what are their intakes? Single dry group or multiple? Have you had any dry cow bloods done?

If vets really wanted to get sick cows as early as possible they would show farmers how to do a basic check. Who can do basic treatment to a cow sooner. The farmer around the cows all day or the vet.

I agree with the restriction of antibiotics. It's needed for industry image and antibotic resistance.

Where did I say I blanket treat them :scratchhead: If a cow has a temperature from a retained cleansing, they get a bottle of Synulox. Likewise, if a cow looks like it is going off it's food, a bottle of Norodine. The multivits were 'just because'.......so sue me.

The caecal dilation is a very different aeteology - generally found in mid-later pregnancy. I've never seen one recently calved.

I did once have a cows that had a LDA early in lactation and a caecal dillation 6 months later. Fixed both. She's still going a few years later.

had a LDA in a cow 120 days preg , a CD and a couple of others with cold ears and slow guts
hence the low in calcium possibilty
