David Brown 885 rear wheels locked

Hello all.
Brand new member with a problem, looking for advice.
Just bought a David Brown 885, it's in gorgeous cosmetic condition but the rear wheels are locked.
It's presently on my trailer.
If you jack up the rear, you can spin one wheel and the other rotates easily and smoothly in the opposite direction and vis versa, no nasty noises, nice and smooth.
But you can not spin both wheels in the same direction, even with the clutch pedal depressed.
It appears to be in neutral.
The clutch pedal feels to be working.

Any advice would be very welcomed.

I've had the gear stick off and can see one damaged gear shown in the photo. The damaged gear is the one marked with purple on the other photo. (The photo with the purple is not my gearbox, it's a photo of the www)

Another thing to add, the seller showed me a video of it running forward and back from a week ago, all was fine.
He then stopped recording the video, put it in to reverse to put it back in his garage and that was when the rear wheels locked up.

It's presently pouring it down but been to have a look at the diff lock pedal, it's not stuck, it has movement.

Sounds like the differential is ok, so must be further forward. You say it appears to be in neutral, but could it be an issue with the gear selectors, in two gears at once?

I can select 1,2 and 3rd OK yes, I didn't manage to engage reverse but because it's a brand new toy for me I didn't want to bully it.

I don't know. That was the previous owner's feeling but my feeling is that with the clutch depressed, surely it would freewheel?

Take the main gear lever off, see if the selectors are in line with one another, might need a tyre bar or similar to get them back in line.

DB where bad for wear in the selectors.

By that photo it doesn't have a Q cab, which is good to see inside the gearbox, and get the lever out the top cover.

Part numbers 20 and 16 need to be across from one another when in neutral. If badly worn it's a gearbox out job to replace them.
I had both the gear sticks off yesterday, I should have taken photos. I think 16 and 20 are aligned

It stopped raining for 5 minutes. Here are 2 photos with the gear stick removed.
They are aligned, but are they aligned in the correct position for neutral?
May I just say thank you to everyone who has replied!

Can remember on a 996 scraper tractor I once drove that very occasionally you could get it in forward and reverse at the same time and had to realign selectors with a tyre lever
