90 series were not available with those models as Hydrashift were they? Only 1490 up if I recall correctly. The 1394 was though and even as a 4wd Hydrashift.
Our 1494 hydrashift is one of the most robust and useful tractors we have ever owned for light cultivation work. Almost permanently connected to the power Harrow.
Not exactly versatile then. Our 1494 hydrashift is one of the most robust and useful tractors we have ever owned for light cultivation work. Almost permanently connected to the power Harrow.
Not sure whether the 1390 had wet brakes. The 1394 did, plus a turbo. That is the one I would have if it was a choice of DB four cylinder models, lord forbid.
Your memory is bound to be better than mine on these models. Wet brakes are so much better than dry ones and DB we’re building down to a price by fitting drum brakes to that size of tractor even into the 1980’s.1390 and 1394 have dry brakes, think 1494 and above have wet. 1394 definitely has the turbo where as 1390 don't
One of our 13's was a pig for the pivot winding out and pushing the shoes over to the side, never the best design but ok if driven properly.

can anyone tell from this pic1394 had dry brakes.
Brakes where not a problem really dry or wet. 1394 had a different clutch , turbo and could be synchro or hydrashift.
To tell if that tractor is a 1390 or a 1290 have a look where the engine bottom pulley is and see if a shaft is running forward to a hydraulic pump as 1390 had a front mounted pump and 1290 had a gearbox mounted pump same as a 996. If the tractor starts with minimum effort and there is free play on the clutch pedal with no slippage and the hydraulics work as they should then get it bought a great little tractor. We have just sold a 1290 to a local college for the students to tinker with rough value £2000
You've got to be kidding!View attachment 663698 can anyone tell from this pic
Wether or not it is hydra shift.cheers
Thank yourView attachment 663706
Possibly a plate on the casting here, with serial no and engine type and number. Or engine number stamped on the block in a similar position, if there is something along the lines of 4/49 on the engine no it's a 1290, if it's 4/55 it's a 1390, 1490 also says 4/55 but has a turbo, which that one doesn't.
WTF do you think we are? Bloody clairvoyants? Mystics? What could you tell from your pictures, which now turn out to be from an advertisement? Sod all, that's what, so how do you expect anyone else to be able to do the work for you, based on bugger-all but tiny black photos of an ad you've seen. And you expect US to expand the photos for you to show a bigger fuzzy blob. Do you want jam on top as well? Not my choice of photo it's from the ad
Can't you expand photo.
And think on I'm only an amerteur at this
Tractor game, didn't realise I was in the company such esteemed knowledge.
I'll leave you to get on. Thanks anyway
Best regards.
Have you quite finished ?
