Decisions decisions....

Time for an update...

I put my name in for an immigration scheme run by a town in Manitoba, they are after welders, joiners, mechanics and various other trades... Got passed the first Skype interview stage.... and last night I received an email inviting me out for an exploratory visit and a face to face interview :)

I'm going to give up part of my farm regardless of staying or going. In talks with lads (father and son in law) who live on the place who keeps bees, they are going to sow it out with a variety of plants which are good for bee feed, if I get to go i will lease them my older cows, if I stay I'll get to put some cattle up there to romp down some of the grass... Win win...
Not sure how to deal with the other bits of ground yet, will think of something...

So wooly hats on and off out to Manitoba some time early next year(y)

Did you check out the opportunities just south of where you are going in the oil patch in North Dakota....the jobs market in the US is booming.
Regardless, hopefully you will make the transition to a better future.........good luck to you.
No, never looked into going down south of the border (though I did chat to a lass from Michigan for a while, looked quite a nice spot) sticking with Manitoba see how it goes for a while.

Would be quite good fun to take a run through some of the ghost towns in North Dakota.

If he's coming here in January or February he's probably going to feel the full force of a Manitoba winter :ROFLMAO: It's actually pretty canny of them to set it up that he's coming then :censored:

Especially if February is as bad as they say it's going to be.

An English test can hardly be too much of a hurdle, what part of Manitoba are you heading to?
In my younger days I was seriously interested in Manitoba but I chickened out mainly due to the winter
An hour's listening test, not too bad...
Reading test one hour... Ok, was pretty in depth though..
Writing test... One hour... do a 150 word essay on the difference in salaries between men who have a degree, and those who don't, (given in a table) at ages 22,32,42,52 and 62 years old. Then do a 250 word essay on the differences of intensive agriculture and organic/traditional agriculture and the pros and cons of each.
then a speaking test.
I got on best with the speaking test, plenty of practice.

it's the winters I'm going for! Got 6" of snow lying here since yesterday , tomorrow it's going to be 6" of slush:( I Hate it, freeze hard and be done with it(y)

Right down south near the border.

If only there wasn't such a variation between a hard freeze and -40 :ROFLMAO:

But don't worry, when it's that cold there and I've got a Chinook here, I'll be sure to let you know :)

i know it's a long way in the future for you but my cousin has been in ontario for almost 5yrs and is a bit pee'd at the delay in her citizenship application. maybe because she is 74 and lost her hubbie 2yrs ago. she has a daughter across the road from her, the reason for going in the first place. sorry if i have pee'd on your chips, just something to be aware of. all the the best.
