Dehorning/ disbudding service

Would there be much interest in a dehorning/disbudding service?
Covering both young calves and removing horns off larger cattle.
Based in NI

I’m sure there could be, I know round me there’s a few older farmers who use the vet for such things, I’m sure you could do it cheaper than they would? Never been across the water though so not sure what your farming is like over there.

I’d be providing adrenacain, equipment, spray etc.

We pay around £4-5/calf, depending on how many our guy does. I provide anasthetic. He is way better than a Vet, as so experienced.

Was thinking around £4/calf. I can defiantly do it less than the vet. Need to sit and work it out.

If you can drop on a small calf crate in a farm sale or something, well worth having for one man working or when the help is not what you might hope for

Block calvers could be very interested. Could be long days but you could do well for a couple months of the year and steadier on the rest.

.....as an experiment, next time you need a filling / extraction, try it without anesthetics.......

It makes the job easier for them, as well as less stress for calves, wake up half an hour later with no idea what’s happened with Metacam kicking in - not necessary but better I’d say.

just started vac calves v IBR, timing is best done between 7 and 13 days, so x1 week.
it's actually the first time vac calves, the weather is so warm and damp, we thought it might be a good idea. Cows we do ourselves, but that could alter.
