Deutz GP 2.30 baler

What are your thoughts on the Deutz GP 2.30 baler (net wrap)? I'm after a baler to do 50-100 bales a year. Round bale contractors in my area are becoming harder to get hold of.

its a cracking baler, or rather it was, bearing s going is always the one with fixed chamber balers , better if its been stored inside when not used
check sprockets and chains for extreme wear

Most of my tackle matches, done out in rust only spoilt by original paintwork clinging on. And snap on that do it yourself ethic!

I had one, fantastic wee baler. Stringer was lovely and quick/ and simple. As above bearings may be a problem. Forerunner to the vicon rf135 etc. Crack on.

ps netter was OK, you had to keep adjusting the pressure on the hood.

How much brake are you giving the roll?

Vicon,/kv sold the balers to Kuhn then bought the Gallanini (spelling ?) balers and developed them.

I had one and it was great- until it went on fire baling straw, thought we got it put out fairly quickly but it must have melted the seals in the bearings, bearings were always going after that

Very good baler of their day but you have to remember they are closing on 30 years old now.

RP12S was still in production then and the Greenland baler was a closer match but still better than the early RP200’s.

In saying that bearings were prone to failure due to ingress of contamination more so than Welger IMO.

I have one, great baler to pack bales, but can't get the anvil to cut the net...

The anvil can be turned over, meant to be done every 12000 bales .Makes a big improvement when it cuts the net.

btw - does anyone have a photo of the trip mechanism? I'm interested in the gap between the bale tension part and the trip lever.
I suspect a previous owner has screwed it way out to make the bales as heavy as possible. Moving the spring tension pins to adjust bale density has no effect.

While the baler is running.
Iirc the net roller works a ratchet that pulls the knife back and once it gets to the end something spring loaded moved and cuts the net. I might still have the handbook, will try and look for it.

Mine had to have a wee bit of flat plate bolted on to make it correct.

Iirc while baler is running press the net button this moves the knife back then tensions the belt and this makes the net roller turn. It then retracts after couple of seconds but now the net is being drawn in by the bale. The eccentric on the end of the shaft then works the ratchet and when the cam thingy reaches the end the knife bangs down on the net. 18 years since I did anything with one though so might not be 100% correct.
