deutz ttv popping out of gear

ok i have an update

dealer still hasnt looked at tractor, they were in the area once when i wasnt home but thats it

i havent driven in high range all summer, but i decided to try the other day as i was in a hurry to get somewhere. so i changed ranges from low to high while in motion. driving along in low range i put it into neutral on the ttv, then forced the range from low to high it didnt wanna go but it did with the clutch, let out clutch now still coasting in neutral but in high range, put it into gear forward on the steering wheel column, something clunked and banged a bit but good news it hasnt popped out of gear yet over a few hours. before it would pop out every half minute thats how bad it got.

so i am wondering what happened? maybe there was some dirt in one of the lines (in tranny) they were unable to hold pressure and i forced it through? any other ideas?

alright, did another 20km today no problems whatsoever

here is a better idea of what i think fixed it. i started using the free oil return line because i bought a new machine which needed recirculating oil pressure (sprayer). the tranny and hydraulic oil is shared on my tractor unfortunately. before i only used tippers etc. so perhaps because of this i was able to "filter" out the problem? maybe there was some blockage somewhere from contaminated oil which got into the tranny from hydraulics and i was able to push it out finally?

I'm sure @DrDunc always said they were separate oil. 1 of the reasons they were better than other tractors.
All the zf eccom Deutz trannies I've seen are separate gearbox and hydraulic oil. It's one of the reasons why the 'boxes live longer than Deere's with less then scrupulously clean operators ?

Even my 10yo wee k series Deutz has separate oils

Edit

Just looked back to the OP....

This is a 5130 yes? That uses SDFs own gearbox. May well be shared oil.

so problem is back, for a long while it was fine. it's very intermittent ever since I started using the amazone with recirculating oil flow.

say it's popping out of gear now, then I use the amazone to spray a few fields, unhook it and tractor is fine until the next time I spray and problem is back. so every odd time problems back and even time it's fine.

perhaps some debris in the oil the transmission filter isn't picking up? so doing a test here pics attached

if this doesn't work then last resort is doing a full oil flush with new filter and if that doesn't work sounds like cabrio time :-(

no, the range lever is fine. this only happens in high range. the shuttle by the wheel is in forward mode and the transmission will clunk and lets go of the gear tractor starts slowing down revs start increasing it thinks its still in gear. then i need to put the shuttle into neutral and pop it back into forward and it starts going again...

I would remove and clean the end of the speed sensors .
Sensors are small magnets and can attract fine metal particles over time .
If the end of the sensor gets covered it can struggle to read the off gear especially at higher speeds which may be why it’s ok in the lower range.
If you lose or have an erratic speed sensor signal it can fault to neutral To protect itself.
I would expect there to be error codes for erratic signals though.

there were no codes dealer came and looked and they did adaptation that didnt help either, it has never happened in low range thankfully that would make field work annoying and or impossible

i dont think its a speed sensor because it popped out many times under 5mph

so i might have narrowed it down to the low/high range lever. when its in high its very loosey goosey. i did a test with a bungee cord maybe it fixed the problem 90%. i did 100 miles today with a grain cart. under load and up hills the drive is fine, its when going down hill the cvt starts engine braking and it pops out a lot. if i nudge the lever slightly i can get it to pop out, while technically still in high range.

i think the problem is that when high range is selected it goes into neutral too easily, either the lever needs adjusting or something lower down thats connected to it... ideas? i really dont want to pull the cab to get at the tranny.

And the award for potentially the cheapest fix to a transmission rebuild goes to....... 🤣

Hopefully adjusting the gear linkage sorts the issue 👍

Our Deutz gives error codes still, despite a £2400 bill to locate what was apparently a loose pin in a plug.

Pto stops working randomly, GPS drops out when it feels like a rest.

If even @DrDunc has abandoned them then the game must be up!

I've not abandoned Deutz!

I'm just waiting for them to bring out a replacement for the near 30 year old cab which has space and comfort levels to rival the luxurious wee valtra.

They might even go back selling quality, built to last, punch well above their weight, and all on a thimble of fuel like my (future classic!) K430 profiline still does every day 🥰

Funny you should say that. I feel they have outdone themselves with the compound shiftless gearbox in the new 7250 ttv hd. To my knowledge, they are the only ones offering a compound transmission in this hp-class of tractors, only to then use the 20 year old cab on it (
- sorry if I'm promoting my video here).
