Diff lock and auto steer

Anybody else have issues with running both together? JD and Trimble seem to fight against the diff lock if engaged for traction. Diff lock always wins and sends the tractor off course. Seems to be a recent thing over the last year rather than something long term.

You will have to run very differnet settings if using the diff lock alongside autosteer. As a small input wont work like normal!
It can work but needs some tweaking

I use diff lock in the auto setting on nh and get on well with it using it along side auto steer

I do too and I hate it. Right your ploughing coming to a wet bit where you need diff lock. It's not straight at wet bit so autosteer increases angle and diff disengages exactly where you need it.

I just turn autosteer off when I get to any wet bits that are going to require diff to keep moving.

I can see your problem there in that situation. Had similar with ours, the diff lock disengaged to quickly when the wheel was turned so i altered the angle at which it disengages which has improved it.

How do you alter it?

I do sometimes just put it on and not auto. It should disengage when you lift implement in auto in my opinion.

You'll need the diagnostic plug to access the h menu, think theres 3 settings/ angles which you can select . Think mine is on the biggest angle. If you've got a plug I'll see if i can find which menu you need to be in. Such a shame its in the h menu and not accessible through the main screen like the jds.
Can you link the diff lock to the hts, i havnt noticed if you can on ours yet as rarely use hts?

I'm sure you can. I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to things like that.

I don't have h plug.

Ive never needed it either, the auto pto on lift and lower is all ive used so far.
Next time your dealer is out plug the laptop in and try altering the angle. Its a different channel setting (0 1 2 3) for different angles in the h menu. Certainly helped my problem when i had it on the drill

The dealer changed the setting for me on the laptop and it's much better. Or it was until the steering angle sensor started playing up.

You can alter the angles at which diff lock and 4wd engage/disengage in the newer JD armrest screens for the auto settings. I don’t know how that interacts with auto steer or iTec.

My experience of auto features is largely of 30 and early R Deere's and preferred to a most auto features programmed into the headland management, rather than leaving it to the basic auto settings.

The logic used by auto steering systems can var quite a lot between makes and models. With a Trimble EZ Pilot, I have 3 different profiles for my main tractor saved in it for no, moderate and high draft situations. That doesn't help much when you have wet places in fields that can greatly change how effective the steering is those spots.
