Previous crops, ran out of time for that :)

Will do the same for spring as well
Doesn’t look like a problem from the pictures. Do you plan to drill the same direction as the tramlines/traffic each year? I had a 6m demo (and I’ve now bought 1 as well) which run on an angle to the traffic lines, just pondering for myself whether to carry on drilling at an angle or if it will be ok to drill the same direction

I might drill at a bit of an angle going forward but this is a bit of an odd shaped field so i picked the longest side just to get it done last autumn

Medium/light land barley really starting to move now, not sure if it’s the direct drilling but it seemed to take an age to get going but each one has a lot of tillers on

Will get some heavy land shots this week but all of that looking better than we have had in a while considering the start it had with no rain and frosts for most of April

What spacing are your coulters ?
Looking to do something similar, I need to sow grass , phacelia, oats and clover only need 150 litre hopper needs to be simple effective and cheap, what would best metering unit be ?
Are fans necessary? would a box type land wheel drive do the job only 3m wide.
Dont want or need anything to big and definitely not heavy, often only using very low seed
Quantities so small hopper is required 3m box type non starter as won't have enough seed to cover the bottom .

There are 18 tines in 3m.

As said mine has the full accord front hopper but there are quite a lot make small hoppers like stocks, bullock tillage, apv etc that would go on top of a frame

I have a previous concoction where I cut a Nordsten hopper in half and use that on a flat lift so there are multiple ways to do it

Starting a bit of a virtual crop tour.

Bearing in mind we had no rain for 7 weeks and 19 frosts in April then a wet May.

Spring wheat

Bit thin in spots as the slugs had a go at it

Heavy land spring barley

Seemed to take an age to get going then got punished a bit with the weather but filling it out nicely. Will add some pics of the better area.

Light land spring barely and some poorer spots, along with winter wheat for comparison tomorrow.

So some good yields and some slight disappointments.

very happy with the spring crops considering no rain for nearly 2 months then 100mm in May.

The first winter wheat bit I used the drill for had some terrific areas but also some plain ones. Water makes water rang true. So I have put some Metcalf ng legs in our flat lift for this autumn and glad I did as the poorer areas of winter corn had 165hp on it’s knees at 8-10” with 3 legs so hopefully this and a vetch and black oats cover will get it ready for spring barley

Just to add all winter crops will be done with the tine drill now as those Ng legs leave a very nice surface once the packer and following Harrow have levelled it up. So will let it weather and go straight in early Oct.

Assuming it’s a 3 Mtr subsoiler,is three legs enough
