Land rover hardly made any drivetrain components then, engines, gearboxes, etc were ford. Only difference is nowadays they make their own engines, use ZF gearboxes and other bits and pieces from Tenneco. Just because a vehicle is based on a shared platform doesn't mean that they don't manufacture it there. They still made the monocoque, painted it, put everything together.
You miss the point - the FL2 is reliable because LR didnt design it.

You could be right on that one. The wording of your original comment made it out like poor reliability was the fault of LR production rather than design...

Basically all that is LR is the body.

Drivetrain is all Volvo P2 AWD (think previous shape XC70/ XC60/ XC90), gearbox etc.

PSA 2.2 derv engine is Fords modification of that used in Mondeo, and some Focus, as is all the cooling pack and engine ancillaries. The intercooler & rad is the same as a Focus ST or RS or or other 2.0tdci . If its the 3.2 petrol- thats volvo.

Floor pan, Steering / suspension components are Mondeo. Hubs and brakes are XC60/XC90. Volvo Wheels are a direct fit

Wiring and entertainment system is a mix between Volvo and Ford. The Key Dock slot is the same as Aston used in the Vantage without the frilly frock.

What are you on about, they were made at Halewood...
Having experienced the Solihull production lines quite a few times, I'd prefer the Ford-rejected scousers to hang the bits together, regardless of the design origins.

Landrover is an anachronism that somehow managed to use occasional good design and fine marketing to escape the natural conclusion of the rest of BL.
