Dog, heart beat

So, Mrs, Czech bought a stethoscope (I don’t know why), and was trying it on all sorts of things. Including the young (not yet two) Aussi Shepherd. She says he has an irregular heart beat 🤔.
Now, he does have a fair coat, but he does pant more than any other dog I have known, including the winter time but especially now.
Mrs Czech thinks the panting is related to the irregular heart beat.
She may take him to the vet 🙄, but TBH, other than calving and prolapse we don’t have much confidence in our vet.

Has anyone any experience of this with their dogs?

It's a working dog. I have sent many working gun dogs for export and all needed a vet certificate to go on the plane. They will often have an 'irregular heart beat' for being in the surgery, being handled by a stranger, having been on a car journey, etc. but all were passed as fit and none died in transit. But I often have o explain this to the vet. (I don't trust many either!). The obvious thing to do it to take the dog to the vet and get it checked out, both for peace of mind and to pacify the wife. I'd probably take the dog for a long fast run to see what happened, but then I am not married.

Lots of things can change the heartbeat in healthy dogs. My question is what are you going to do if there is an irregular heart rhythm. If the dog is fit and healthy with no exercise intolerance then nothing. If it was showing signs of heart disease then maybe meds dependent on what is causing it.

I suppose I was interested to see if anyone had experience of meds 🤔.
The dog works a bit with the cows so it’s not like he never runs 😊

I can't remember the details (from uni) but it's actually tied to their respiratory rate. Rarely, a human has the same, and it's not treated. I know someone with it.

Shame you don't have a good vet. Neither do we. They'll diagnose anything that will cost you money.

This might be helpful. Basically says if the dog's fine otherwise, leave it alone.

Will refrain from comments about a little learning . . . and not knowing what you're looking for then finding it . . . Sorry couldn't 🙄

If his heart rhythm was completely wrong he would be struggling and then I think the treatment would be a pacemaker rather than meds.
Even if a pacemaker .....

Bro in law has just been diagnosed with brugada syndrome, quite rare, very rare in 52 yr olds as it’s normally got you by 40! Anyway he’s had a defibrillator fitted the kicks in if his heart races/goes irregular, wonder if they have them for dogs.
All the best with it
