I don't think this is about increased pesticide use

It's about the legal residue limits in food being increased under the last govt. & potential efforts to get that reversed
Pesticides (banned in UK )often on imported produce

Butterfly Conservation would say its the use of UK pesticides that are killing of B'flies

Been an appalling year for them critters .. but largely driven by the weather. However, if they do not recover even in ideal weather patterns, then there will be another reason.
Probably dairy farmers fault I think

More specifically, dairy farmers keeping breeds of cows that produce high butterfly fat milk

I had one of the panicky phone calls last yr saying some produce had failed residue test, send application/harvest recs etc immediately and stand by. Called agronomist and he said ask for a retest, I did and that was the end of it. Following up on it he said he recently had a crop flagged up for DDT, retest showed clear. So it was likely cross contamination in the lab, given DDT been banned for 50(?) plus years.

Which begged the question where was the cross contamination from and how did it come to be a lab that was testing food for sale in UK retail?
