Dowdeswell damper ram seals

Half Pint

Hi, I am hoping to replace the seals in the land wheel damper ram from a Dowdeswell plough.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to replace the piston seal as it does not look the type that will stretch over the piston and into the groove. The piston is welded to the rod but has a wire type circlip on the other side, is there a way of moving that side of the piston back then removing the clip allowing the piston to split so the seal can be fitted. It is probably staring me in the face but I can't see it. To help I have included some photos. Thanks in advance

how bout a much , much bigger diameter wheel, so that it doesnt need to swing anywhere near as far.so less of 'stressy damaging bang' going on, iyswim.
Also bigger ground contact area helps keep a steadier depth as well,as on a semi mounted set up.

would be getting a suitable wheel though and extra weight of course, be ok on 4 furrow maybe .

just thinking out loud really.

I'm just thinking grease might be too " Thick " ? it's a little bit slow to drop with gear oil.
