Only thing I now use for small seeds.
So it's all good then ( driving steady of course) even on hard ground /bigtuneven...he causing a bit of bumping around of the seed box sort of thing and with the rumble of the tines?
I refer not to seed like grass, ( well maybe Timothy)..
.... but 'Small seeds' ... brassicas, clovers, sanfoin, lucerne....... etc. I mean Sown straight btw , not in a mix with bigger seeds.

All sorts in here @Cowcorn, it's a covercrop mix for winter grazing.
Peas beans lupins sunflower right thru to phacelia and forage brassica, so it is a bit slow; I don't want the seed to sort too much so I'm only putting in a few bags at a time.

So as I only have varieties (skyscraper and sundance) that can be drilled up to the end of jan how far would anyone push the past this. (I won’t hold anyone accountable if it ended up being silage :) )

Most box drills here have 3 boxes - fert, seed, small seeds
The small seed box on this one has 2 settings chiselled in - swedes @0.9kg/ha and kale at 5kg/ha, the fert box is set for drilling 125kgs DAP and the main box had never been used!

Now set for my mix @73.11kg/ha.

Tine drills tend to rattle a bit like you said, but this machine is pretty solid due to 22 big cast press wheels, about 2400kg for a 3 metre machine (so you know it's there in a 3600kg tractor)
I'm really impressed with how well it handles residue, the Duncan I used to use would have struggled.... especially planting beans etc at 35mm deep

Not sure but I was hoping after 4months Of sh!te it would have stopped by now but the British weather just keeps on giving crap. I would be glad of a month of -5.
Snap, sorry for the original 'non answer' but these are the thoughts rattling around my head as I really have no idea and I have to decide whether to drill my Grafton. If the opportunity ever occurs.

Quite a mix Pete seems to be going in well ,roughly how much acre did that mix cost ? And how many kilos of feed acre do you expect .
