Dryer fuel group buy ?

Lots of talk on the forum about the shortening of supply chains etc and through involvement in FarmDeals we have recently been contacted by a large wholesaler of fuel who could do some pretty special prices on Kerosene for grain drying etc. These are the guys that people that usually supply your fuel will be buying from but they are keen to supply direct

However to get this price we would need to buy in full loads (20,000 L) but it could be delivered to multiple farms in an area on a set date - pre-harvest

The question I have is would anyone be interested in joining a deal like that ? the savings could be pretty good and could be either fixed at order or track markets right up to delivery I think, but you would have to take a reasonable qty (say min 5 or 10,000L) and be flexible on delivery

It could work really well if a few farms in an area were to get together etc, the FarmDeals platform / app provide the admin solution for separate billing etc

I lack storage for zero and can be ordering 2 deliveries/week in August. The lorry is rarely delivering less than 10,000 litres but that's usually split between gas oil and Kerosene.

How many farms would they be willing to deliver to in one go? I guess most people only have a tank that can hold a couple of thousand litres so for a whole lorry it would have to be several farms?

yes it would have to be several farms to work all able to take delivery on the same day

but the savings would be significant if such deals could be organised - so my question is if this is of interest or not

I'd imagine anyone that could take a unit load would already have a pretty good deal wouldn't they?

not this kind of deal- this is access to a level above retail that would not usually supply any farmer directly

there would be need to deliver a load in a day but not necessarily to one buyer - it could be 19x 2000L buyers or 2x 10,000L etc

@Clive are they linked to boiler juice?

if not, the folk behind that might well be interested in this sort of thing if it takes off, pm of you want MD contact

nothIng to do with boiler juice, they are just brokers. FarmDeals can beat their prices already and it’s only been going a month

this particular offer however is a wholesaler (people who deal in 10’s of millions of litres at a time) Looking to sell direct to farmers in multiples of full loads

similar anoolgy would be forum members being offered a boat load of bulk urea the same price as a merchant could buy it if we could arrange distribution ourselves
