we have missed a lot of the rain, our grass is disappearing, the maize, on the other hand, absolutely loves it, we have maize 6 feet tall, the whole crop looks good, but the rape we rely on to feed the cows this time of year, is only growing slowly, and not ready yet. but, as forage trader would know, plenty of good hay about, at sensible money, so we are buying that.

Burning up fast here, what milkers are left are now on a bit I was planning to bale.
Drys munching though their stuff at an alarming rate.
No grass for fresh cows.
Not much of a 3rd cut.
Young's running short.

Just hoping this turns out to be true, managed to keep another 16ish acres of decent grazing grass ahead of my group of spring and autumn cows and calves (64 cows) so that should hopefully last another week or two but my weaned stores are all out of grass and have no where to put them...

Had heavy rain most of the night. Thunder at times too. Much Needed in Kent I think as it’s been a while and every thing was starting to turn a shade of brown.
