Re clocking Tractors , is this common ?
Some will Have you believe it is common but it's not.
Everyone seems to have a mate that knows where it's been done and yes it does happen but not widespread.
The web has made the world a small place. There's always someone who knows where a tractor has come from and with what hours it was sold with.
You can often find out from ibidder

@tractortrev, if the mobile number is UK, then i would seriously consider giving it to serious debt collectors/private investigators. They WILL track him down and can bring you some of your money back.

Someone i know off, had a call one day from such people saying if he gave then £500 (I think) they would tell him who in his company was stealing sat nav SD cards and selling them on. Guy ran a car sales company, and one of his employees was taking the SD cards out of cars delivered, and selling them via the usual routes. Somehow, these couple of guys had become aware of it, and worked it all out. so their offer was to pay for their services and they would give the info over.

Someone could either do that, or find out who said seller really is and then you can hand the details to the police.

Thankyou for that I shall try that aswell, I really appreciate all the help given by everyone and wanted to say thanks

From a neighbours experience, unless you have a court order, do not employ private collection firms. All the debtor has to do, if a ccj is not in place, is to claim the amount is disputed. The collection agency can do no more, and you end up paying them.

Does anyone know how to notify eBay of a scam? Just noticed our firewood processor listed for half the price we sold it a few weeks ago, and all looks suspect.

I don't think they really have any interest in solving the problem. It should not be up to the customer to report this most obvious scam. Any ad using the same pictures as a recent should automatically be removed and the account stopped

Yes they will simply just take the ££. I assume that the strike rate for scams must be more than most of us would guess as presumably the scammers are paying for ads. Perhaps where accounts are hacked and borrowed the real account pays?

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone on the farming forum for helping with my search for more information. I heard today through my bank about a recent similar scam where someone lost 15,000.00 by buying a tractor which also never turned up. So yes its important to do lots of research and not get caught out and instead to try and catch the criminals who are doing this. From this discussion that started its good to know that people are checking things through thoroughly and being a bit more careful, and also helping one another.
