Electricity tariffs/Prices

Apparently they only have to read your meter once every two years. We got a shock because of this. They had been sending estimates based on six monthly and then annual readings; we had some changes that they did not pick up on, and this meant that when they did read the meter we had a bill for £12,000 more than we were expecting. This was electricity that we had used, and we should have checked our own meter, but when you are busy these are things that get forgotten.
Surely if the tariff changed the meter would need to be read

You would have thought so, but I expect that they intentionally over bill people and hope some people don't realise or can't face the struggle of reclaiming.

In our case we let out a workshop who paid us for their electric, but the gross farm usage went up considerably. The over billing was only when we changed supplier.

Just signed up with e-on for 12 months-starting 1st July

27p per day standing charge
11.51p day rate
6.33p night rate

Less 4% discount paying direct debit, which effectively takes it to

25.96p day rate
11.07p day rate
6.09p night rate

Plus the advantage of no feed in tariff, which there was with Swalec, which amounts to around £200 saving per annum.

We got fed up with e-on, for some reason they needed to read the meters about 3 times a month:facepalm:(n)

That looks a good rate to me. We use similar amount to you at just over 600,000 units a year. We moved from EON to N power in April at a cost of 10.5 for day units and 6.05 for night units. The broker we normally use could not match this price at the time we did the renewal in January. This is A 1 year contract. For the last 4 years I have correctly thought that the multi year deals were too expensive.
EON were good to deal with, time will tell how good N power are .

Hmm, we haven't had a bill yet :cautious: They didn't submit our final reads to Eon (or vice versa :scratchhead:) Either way they didn't talk to each other :banghead: Eon took note of the readings from me but to generate a final bill, it had to be from Extra Energy
Anyhow, I keep submitting readings, have got my notice in, and one morning next week I'll get my prices in to sort a new contract. Something will happen then I would think!
So in answer to your question-they're great (y) Don't seem to do a lot and fail to bill you :D
