Environment Agency accused of aggressive handling of farmers’ cases

Thought this article in the FW this week deserved highlighting a bit more. We've seen on this forum how Natural England are out of control. It's been discussed many times on here how the Environment Agency are out of control too. @renewablejohn has shown how the Forestry Commission are exactly the same also.

All of these government departments are exactly the same in their treatment of farmers.

Excellent work by the TFA in my opinion. I'm glad someone is banging the drum for farmers.

I think @som farmer went through this
he was a barsteward.
he was certain he was going to do us, and he couldn't.
and he wouldn't give up, even though his boss told him there wasn't a problem.
he just petered out in the end, whether he was moved, nervous breakdown, or whatever.

There is a further twist though, as we are 'fully compliant', we can't claim any grants, to update our storage.

That bloke must be the same character I heard other farms were having big issues about.

when we ordered a new 'compliant' effluent tank, the storeman mentioned his name, had generated quite a lot of enquiries for him. And before delivery, we had it 'approved' by EA.

But it will be a combination of RT and EA, that will stop us milking, looked at 'updating', it basically means a new build, and both of us agree, we are not going to spend that sort of money.

Ideal time to clean ditches , rivers and reservoirs out to catch and save more water why are they NOT doing it????
from friends on the somerset levels, dredging is happening, but the slightest excuse, like they saw a water rat, or a hole looked like a badger sett, they stop, so progress is painfully slow.

No wonder people commit suicide and suffer from mental health issues and stress.older I get I seem to get stressed about more and more with officials bullying us and causing extra work and expense for no return.

I have noticed that my ability to keep calm and cope with those types of stress has reduced as I have got older. And of course the average age of British farmers is about 58.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
