Ethnic minorities in agriculture

Ethnic minorities in agriculture.

So counting east europeans as an ethnic minority, they actually make up more farm workers than the indiginous population.

But how many actually own land/farms?

Locally I know two extremely sucessful farmers with mixed race wives. I suppose Prince Harry had the chance to farm, I presume the Duchess of Bath has a few acres to walk over.

Also a local milk wholesaler & a vegetable wholesaler at Sheffield is asian owned

I think in the USA much more common to have BAME, farmers & land owners. Which is odd we are more progressive & liberal over here.

A lot of Eastern Europeans took on farms after the war . I had 3 near niebours farming . Just one left now . Polish I think . Sorry I should know . I know one said he had lunch with Hitler and would get shot if he went back , but he had some fine stories
When I moved to Wales my Brother and I were the only English speakers in a class of over 40 at School, I was 8 years old . You cant be more of a minority than that . An early settler

Depends what you call ethnic. Must be plenty of Scots, Welsh, and Irish farming in England, if not mixed race. And vice versa. Come to that, are there any pure anglo-saxons left? And the name 'anglo-saxon' says a lot, doesn't it?

When they were doing DNA tests on TV, it was really funny when they found the rabid Nationlist had African forefathers! Most of us will be hybrids so no need to be precious about being a pure bred. I'm Irish, French, and German that I know about, probably a lot more I'd rather not know about!

I can't think of any I actually know but in Manchester market there were always a fair few Asians delivering stuff, mostly coriander or herbs/veg I didn't recognise. I assumed they had grown it as it appeared so. Some would have very broken English and a strong Indian accent and some were more Manc than anyone.
Never saw any Chinese in there when delivering but they were massive buyers for our cabbage. I expect they are too good at business to be primary producers.
