Eustice just interviewed on Marr on LBC

Johnson when PM “mis-spoke “ when he said there would be no non tarriff barriers as import plant and food checks from EU finally come in to place

Incomes have doubled for farmers since 2016

Average dairy farm “income” now £100,000

Explained to Marr that farmers may be complaining short term due to the weather

You heard it here first

Did he mention 2024/25 income prospects for low lying heavy land cereal farms?

Typical politician cherry picking of stats. 2016 was a very low point in farm incomes, and 2022 was a very high point, due to the spike in cereal prices after the invasion of Ukraine. If you ignore the outlying years you'd see that farm incomes have been largely flat since 2008 , bouncing around a mid point of £5bn/year, sometimes up a bit, sometimes down a bit. No sustained increase for over 15 years doesn't make such a good soundbite does it?

If it's not corrected for inflation (ie in real terms) then it's a real terms decrease.

Rule of thumb is doubling of prices every decade, although it's a lumpy thumb.
