Has anyone else had a mysterious lull in proceedings? Few lambings here across Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Day. Just 4 ewes yesterday, and no hoggs. One ewe overnight. What could possibly have happened 150-ish days ago? 🤔

It's been great to have a breather ~ could take an hour at the beach on Sunday, and I covered for a colleague's (who's come down with covid) stint off-farm, yesterday ~ but it could easily mean the next week to ten days will be... :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting:

Do you change raddles after 1st cycle?

Loading empty ewes for kill last week and I saw one had a bag. On closer inspection she also had a twin mark 🤦🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately she'd already missed the lorry south. Have to chill out with me till I go see the ewes in a couple of weeks.
Looks like you caught a bit of blackleg early there. Got there just in time with the Hep?

I'm lucky enough to have some incredibly tolerant neighbours around me. I can't complain at all when it comes to the home farm.

Unnnnfortunately there is always a minority, be they from the farming fraternity or civilians, who see anyone elses crisis as their opportunity. There have been instances of invisible garden furniture being "destroyed" in a rough corner of a lawn somewhere that hasn't seen a mower for decades in the past.

I won’t be paying for any garden furniture, but they will get a bill for “nice” pow camp stile fencing I’m going to put up alone there wall, as they have taken down the fence so they can jump the wall into the field.

Lucky if they don't find the old fence material heaped on their driveway for them to dispose of if that's the way they're getting on.

I’ve got some hebs running about, I love them, compared to lambing 900 inside they are a dream!! Don’t touch them at all unless there’s a problem, which is rare! Mostly have twins, spit them out, don’t feed them a thing, gather them an ring them an the next handling would be to kill them!! Put to llyne tup they have a lot of white lambs, I’d have a thousand if I had the right ground for them
Just a few of my unprofessional rare breed flock. manx and Dartmoor ewe lambs with beltex lambs and Shetland and heb with Oxford down lambs. The Dartmoor needed a pull the others all there in the morning.

So I am about to ring, Worm and Ovivac the last of the March lambers, but there is a set of triplets that are barely 10 days old, do I Worm them and Ovivac them or just ring them and hope they are OK????

Bit of a shuffle required with these. Was 1 head and 1 leg from one lamb and both legs from the other. But she got there in the end.

Ewe has been cull marked.
Daughter asked my why 3-4 of the ewes had a bit Red spot on the back of their necks at the weekend when we sorting some ewes and lambs.

"Dot of Death", I replied. She thought it was moderately amusing ;)
