Got a beef and sheep inspection by WhatsApp comming up soon. Has anyone else had one of these? How long does it take? Or do you have to email stuff to them afterwards? The lady said she wanted to see videos of the animals but I’m not sure how good my signal is outdoors.

How will the inspector know for sure that the video is of your stock or even your premises? Probably doesn’t matter to Red Tractor as long as they have banked the fee and ticked a few boxes.

They will have to trust you on that front.

I did not upload any documents to their website, and stated that from the start when the appointment was made that wouldn't be happening due to our GDPR policy. They were shown live video of the stock, feed store etc etc and any documents they wished to see, and they were totally fine with that.

You probably want to allow an entire afternoon.

I uploaded quite a few document and photos but made it clear it was a massive pain in the backside... did a video tour round the cattle and sheep, blowing a gale so couldn’t hear much, no signal down in our shed so had to just take photos. Took longer than having an actual on farm inspection especially having to upload to the portal.

Not the same scheme, a lot more complicated etc, sent 40+ pictures plus countless documents etc and excel sheets. I am lucky that my auditor is a seriously nice chap who understands the job. He’s coming out to do a physical FAWL check before long but not sure what that entails?

Just proofs what a load of rubbish it is. You are hardly going to take a picture of a lame or sick animal...........or an out of date medicine bottle !!

Save your hard earnt money and don't bother with the protection racket.

Even Farmers Guardian are reporting how bad the scheme is.........and they are probably even been paid for RT adverts, so good for them.

When you see red on food it indicates it is bad for you. In this instance red is bad for farmers !

How does the inspector know you haven’t taken them to see a neighbour’s stock in ‘normal’ times?🤐

A friend of mine tried that, he was told to borrow one I believe.

I thought last time when lockdown came in that they could not force people to have their inspection via whats app etc and you could refuse but stay assured as long as you had an inspection as soon as possible when inspectors were allowed back onto farms??

Surely that would be the case this time as well?

No reason why they cannot carry out on farm inspections now as long as all the paperwork is taken into a shed where its possible to SD and say put it on a bale trailer for them to go thru!

We have had a whatsapp inspection. I uploaded all the relevant documents before hand and did a video call whilst walking round the farm etc. Piece of cake.
