Farm with multiple houses or cottages for a TV show

A TV company is searching for a farm with numerous houses in which a group of 30 townies could live for 6 months next summer, ideally around a yard. Where should we start looking? Any ideas?

Try our local farm location company.... . https://www.farmlocations.co.uk

I think it is a tall order to find 20 beds in houses on a farm for 6 months, that is actually a working farm .............. but good luck.

Do they still spend silly money on locations.

One of our properties was on 'Where the heart is' the production people put the couple up in a hotel for a fortnight full board, transformed a bedroom into a bathroom and decorated two other rooms, story was a lady stuck in the bath, after the filming everything was removed and returned to as it was, apart from the decorating which with consent was retained.

This was around the year 2000, they paid the couple approx a months wages for the inconvenience, paid the business £1,000, when it was finally shown on the TV it lasted less than a minute.

A friend from school let out his home for Pam Ferris's family home, they used the house for the first series and put his family in an hotel as above, for the subsequent series they built a set in the studio mimicking the house inside, still using the outside for some shots, the money paid for the first series was a lot more than he was earning as an electrician, it was then halved for the rest of the run.
Well, it certainly is an expensive business making television that satisfies millions of viewers. If you want to watch inferior crap made by amateurs, there's always YouTube.

As others have said I think you will struggle to find enough accommodation for 30 in close proximity to each other.

Maybe cut that number in half and you might find something suitable.

Or you make them camp out in an outbuilding so they are on site, similar to what they do with "I'm a celebrity".

Could be a good time for someone with loads of old buildings, all set around an old farm steading, get planning in to convert all the buildings, lease the lot out to filming, then set off with loads of holiday cottages and and milk the tourists for more money than cows would make

@TV location hunter i know of 1 place that has 14-16 bedrooms with sleeping for around 50 odd at present. And another 6 mile away which has similar but under a more basic/stag do type housing. Both could be adequate as long as they are able to share kitchens etc

Direct message me if you want to know more

Would need to be well in excess of £50k where I am located.

£500 might just get you a double room in a shared house.

If you wanted 15 bedrooms on the same farm, (lets say over 3 properties) with a yard nearby I cant see it happening but location is the issue. Im sure there are parts of the country you can rent a whole house for £500 a month.

50k for 6 months, that's 2k a week, or put it another way 30 people at less than a tenner a day,
good luck with that one,
try a Travelodge , and then if you wan something better. Up the budget abit

That's what I was thinking. £50k sounds alot until you work it out.

6 months as a filming location with all the crew etc would be £50k..........and then add 30 staying (plus crew) in your houses.

I have had a few film crews on our farm. You soon learn that you are on constant call and well leyed plans are scrapped at very short notice. They are very needy people.
